Tacos & Trivia: A Fun-Filled Themed Dinner Night
Spending quality time together as a family is something we truly cherish, and our weekly themed dinner and activity nights have become the perfect way to make those moments extra special. This week, we brought the excitement of Tacos & Trivia to our home, enjoying a delicious Mexican-inspired meal followed by a competitive trivia night.
Setting the Scene: A Festive & Cozy Table Setup
To create the perfect atmosphere, I decorated our dining table with a navy blue tablecloth, setting a warm yet stylish tone for the evening. At the center of the table, I placed a wood serving tray on a pedestal, which held a small plant, a tealight candle, and a tiny cactus figurine. On both sides, I added another tealight candle and cactus figurines, giving the table a subtle but charming Mexican-inspired touch.
Each place setting featured rattan placemats topped with small white and gold-outlined plates, creating an elegant yet relaxed dining setup. A neatly printed menu sat atop each plate, which I designed and will be offering as a Canva template download for anyone who wants to recreate this special night. To complete the look, I placed knotted terracotta napkins on the side of each plate, adding a warm, earthy tone to the setting.
The Menu: A Flavorful Mexican Feast
A night centered around tacos and trivia deserved an amazing menu full of bold flavors. Here’s what we enjoyed:
Starter
Mexican Street Corn Skillet with Tortilla Chips – Creamy, cheesy, and packed with flavor, this appetizer was the perfect way to start the meal.
Main Course
Birria Tacos – Juicy, slow-cooked beef tucked into crispy corn tortillas, served with a flavorful consommé for dipping. These were the highlight of the night!
Cilantro Lime Rice – A fresh and zesty side dish that paired perfectly with the tacos.
Dessert
Churros – Crispy, golden, and coated in cinnamon sugar, these homemade churros were an absolute treat!
The Activity: Trivia Night on the Big Screen
After we finished our delicious dinner, it was time for trivia night! We set up our projector on a blank wall and found a fun trivia game on YouTube to play as a family. The mix of general knowledge, pop culture, and silly questions kept everyone engaged, and the competitive energy made it even more exciting.
The kids absolutely loved the challenge, and we all had a great time cheering each other on (and laughing at some of the wild guesses). The best part? The trivia format made sure everyone could participate, no matter their age.
The Experience: Laughter, Good Food & Friendly Competition
This Tacos & Trivia Night was a huge hit! The combination of delicious Mexican flavors and a fun, interactive game made for an unforgettable evening. Seeing the kids get so into the trivia and enjoy the meal we prepared together was the highlight of the night.
These weekly themed dinners have quickly become something we all look forward to. They allow us to break away from routine, try new foods, and enjoy simple but meaningful moments as a family.
