Setting the Scene: The Pirate’s Table
To fully immerse ourselves in the pirate theme, I transformed our dining table into a treasure-laden feast fit for the crew of the Black Pearl:
Black tablecloth as the base for a dramatic, moody look.
Netting table runner for a nautical touch.
Gold cake stand in the center, topped with a skull head, surrounded by gold coins.
Tall gold candles lined up in a row for a flickering, old-world feel.
Gold chargers with black plates to set the scene.
Satin black napkins tied with elegant gold napkin rings.
A custom menu that I designed (you can grab the Canva template download here). I printed it on special vintage-looking paper.
The entire setup felt like we were dining in the captain’s quarters aboard a pirate ship!
The Caribbean-Inspired Feast
No pirate adventure is complete without a delicious meal, and our Caribbean-themed menu brought the bold, tropical flavors of the islands straight to our table.
Pre-Dinner Drinks:
Regular and Virgin Piña Coladas – Creamy, tropical, and refreshing! These were the perfect way to kick off our evening.
Appetizer:
Rum Jerk Shrimp – Spicy, flavorful shrimp marinated in a jerk seasoning with a hint of rum. (Link to recipe here)
Main Course:
Jerk Chicken – Smoky, spicy, and packed with authentic Caribbean flavors. (Link to recipe here)
Calypso Rice – A flavorful, coconut-infused rice dish that paired perfectly with the jerk chicken. (Link to recipe here)
Jamaican Cabbage – A tangy, lightly sautéed cabbage side dish with just the right amount of heat. (Link to recipe here)
Dessert:
Kraken Rum Cake – A moist, rum-infused cake inspired by the legendary sea monster. The perfect sweet ending to our pirate adventure! (Link to recipe here)
Everything was a hit, and the kids especially loved the sweet and spicy combination of flavors!
Adventure Awaits: The Pirate Scavenger Hunt
Before we sat down for dinner, the kids embarked on an exciting 25-clue scavenger hunt! This was one of their favorite parts of the evening. I hid clues all around the house and backyard, leading them on an adventurous search high and low for the next step in their quest.
They worked together as a team, deciphering clues and racing to find the next hiding spot. The grand prize? A treasure box filled with gold chocolate coins! Seeing their excitement as they uncovered the final clue and opened the treasure chest was absolutely priceless.

Movie Night: Pirates of the Caribbean
After our feast and treasure hunt, we settled in for a cozy movie night with Pirates of the Caribbean. With full bellies and chocolate coins in hand, we laughed at Captain Jack Sparrow’s antics and got lost in the thrilling adventure on the high seas.
The kids had an absolute blast, and they’re already asking what our next themed dinner night will be!
